Hi Iws, there will two specs for the 1.6 (AT) one is the standard model and the other is the High Spec. The price for the standard should be around 90k while the High Spec close to a 100k. 1.8(A) will be out of my league, will settle for the 1.6(A) if the price is around 85k

pricing for 1.8 at 110k will be a no go. I would then prefer the new civic which is around 115k. below 100k will get a substantial number of buyers

Tang, the new civic will still be running on a sohc engine I believe and the features are nothing like this elantra. You would be getting better value for money. 1.8 comes with a sunroof btw.

This Elantra also called Wind Crafted, it body design, engine and interior is far more better than Civic.
I am not working in Hyundai, I am just a fan for car and I read magazine every month. This car already gotten a lot of award in US for saving fuel also.
I would recommend everyone to visit the showroom and have a look at the real car, I am sure you will be impress. I am already impress by looking at the photo.
However if you are still worry about the resell value, then you can go back to purchase a Honda or Toyota.
For me I will buy something that really make me happy and not think of resell value, no one can predict what going to happen tomorrow, who know maybe Elantra will be more resell value than Honda or Toyota?

Considering it will be Inokom and the minimum price is more than RM90k, it is a waste of money buying this, unless it is a CBU. Go and get Forte instead and show Sime Darby the true meaning of purchasing power. Don’t get me wrong, I was dying to wait for the launch, but since I heard it is going to be an Inokom and the price is much more expensive than a Forte, I’d get a Forte instead. Elantra is an excellent car, but when it is branded as Inokom, most of the interior materials will be Inokomized, thus making the quality inferior. Go and ask people who bought Inokom Sante Fe, Inokom i10, Inomkom Matrix and Inokom Atos and you will agree with me 200%.
Obviously current Forte is cheaper & slightly inferior as it share same based design wt last generation Elantra (XD). Somemore new Forte 2013 which can be said sibling to this Elantra MD is coming to launch end this yr.
So far I dont see inferior quality in Inokom brand compare to original Hyundai like U said. Hyundai Atos, Hyundai Matrix or Hyundai Getz not a great car either; that’s why.
If not why Inokom given a licensed to CKD BMW, Japanese cars etc all this while.
I read a lot about how impressive Hyundai Elantra is but also concerned when rebadged to Inokom especially the quality of localized parts. Hope Benjamin or anyone in Inokom has infor on the current % of localization of this car. I expect similar case like Proton Inspira (no more projector headlamp).
As Hyundai Elantra is still new in the world market, reliability will only proven with time but would like to know more about the coverage of Hyundai Malaysia 5-year warranty.
Definitely will test drive the 1.6L variance to see if underpowered like the 1.6L Toyota Altis.

Dear all, sorry for all the late response as I was busy running around during the public preview for the Elantra plus secondly there was nothing firm by the management on the launch date and price. But having said that we do have information that the Elantra is due to be launch end of this month roughly on the 28th to 30th of this month near Shah Alam. Pricing has been narrowed between all the specs which range from 95 up to 115k for all specs. Do not hesitate to drop me a call so that I can furnish you guys with more information.
